A Rare Case of Love and Dental Restoration

Mr. S, a charming sixty-year-old gentleman, approached our clinic with a unique motivation for dental restoration. Many patients seek cosmetic dentistry to enhance their appearance for social or professional reasons. Mr. S, however, had a heartwarming reason rooted in his love for his daughter. He explained that as his daughter grew older, he wanted to present a healthy and confident appearance, one that reflected his deep affection for her. The Challenge: Severe Dental Issues

Mr. S’s dental condition was complex. Years of wear and tear had resulted in severe attrition (worn-down teeth), as seen in the occlusal view before treatment (Image 3). Multiple cavities with exposed nerves (pulp), evident in the close-up before photo (Image 1), and several missing teeth, as seen in both the occlusal and close-up images, made eating and speaking difficult. The pre-treatment x-ray (Image 5) also revealed bone loss in areas where teeth were missing.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation: The Solution

After a thorough examination and consultation, we determined that full mouth rehabilitation was the optimal solution to address Mr. S’s multiple dental problems. This comprehensive approach allowed us to tailor a treatment plan that met his specific needs and desires.

Technical Treatment Details

Root Canal Therapy: To save the teeth with exposed nerves from extraction, we performed root canal therapy, removing the infected pulp and sealing the tooth to prevent further damage.
Dental Implants: We replaced Mr. S’s missing teeth with dental implants, providing a sturdy foundation for natural-looking crowns.

The pre-treatment X-ray (Image 5) reveals significant bone loss in areas where teeth were missing, a common consequence of untreated tooth loss. The post-treatment X-ray (Image 6) demonstrates the successful integration of dental implants into the jawbone, providing a strong and stable base for the new teeth.

Porcelain Crowns and Bridges: To restore the worn-down and damaged teeth, we placed custom-made porcelain crowns and bridges, improving both function and aesthetics.
